ICN airport is is located 52km (32 miles) west of Seoul city centre.  The airport is close to Sindo Island. It was constructed on reclaimed land between Yeongjong and Yongyu islands to create a new administrative district known as Jung-gu.

It airport opened in 2001 to replace its predecessor, Gimpo International GMP Airport, which serves many Japanese and domestic routes and shuttle flights.

Incheon airport has two terminals, three runways and a private helipad. There is also a passenger concourse connected to Terminal 1 which transports passengers via two underground IATs (Intra Airport Transits). Terminal 2 opened in early 2018 and is modern and eco-friendly in its design.

Seoul Incheon International Airport is the main hub for Korean Air, Asiana Airlines, Jeju Air and Polar Air Cargo. In 2017 it was Asia’s 8 th busiest airport in terms of international passengers and it was the third busiest in Asia for cargo.
